Legal
Terms of Use
The short version: these calculators are free planning estimates, not advice, and you use them at your own discretion.
1. Acceptance
By using netpad.ca you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may update these terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
2. What this site is
The Canadian Netpad is a free set of educational calculators and articles about Canadian personal finance. It is an information service only. It is not a bank, lender, brokerage, insurer, tax preparer or registered adviser, and using it does not create a client, fiduciary or advisory relationship.
3. No professional advice
Nothing on this site is tax, legal, accounting, mortgage, insurance or investment advice. Results are estimates generated from published federal and provincial rates and the assumptions documented on our methodology page. Your circumstances, your lender's policies and current legislation may produce materially different outcomes.
Always confirm important decisions with a qualified professional — an accountant, licensed mortgage broker, lawyer or notary, insurance broker, or a registered financial planner.
4. Accuracy and availability
We review rates and formulas regularly and correct errors promptly, but we do not warrant that the site is accurate, complete, current or uninterrupted. The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
5. Your responsibilities
You agree not to misuse the site: no attempts to disrupt or reverse-engineer it, no automated scraping that burdens the service, no republishing our content as your own, and no use of the site in a way that breaks Canadian law.
Saved scenarios are stored in your own browser. Clearing your browser data deletes them, and we cannot recover them for you.
6. Intellectual property
The text, design, calculator logic and branding on netpad.ca are owned by the site operator. You may quote short excerpts with a link back for non-commercial purposes; anything more requires written permission.
7. Third-party links and advertising
This site links to government and industry resources and displays advertising supplied by third-party networks. We do not control that content and are not responsible for it. Advertising does not affect our calculations, rankings or recommendations.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of netpad.ca is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its estimates, including financial loss, lost opportunity or indirect damages.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the province in which the site operator resides and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
